Factory-curved panels work well for smaller architectural jobs — but industrial facilities present a distinct set of demands. Large roof spans, long panel runs, tight retrofit schedules, and constrained job site coordination all create challenges that on-site curving solves directly. Long panel length. Factory-curved panels must fit on a standard tractor-trailer, which caps panel length and forces unnecessary seams into your roof system. When RPS curves panels on your job site, we handle panels up to 80 feet long. Panels over 80 feet are reviewed on a project-by-project basis and require approval before scheduling.

No freight damage. Curved panels are notoriously difficult and expensive to ship with. They cannot be stacked, usually need a separate truck for transport, and are prone to damage during transit. On-site curving removes that risk. Panels are curved on site and installed directly, no crating, no handling damage, no freight surcharge.

Panel Preparation & Compatibility

RPS curves your panels — we do not modify them. Before panels reach our machine, whether on your job site or at our facility, the following must be completed by your crew or panel manufacturer:

  • Male flange leg removed. The leg of the male flange must be removed to allow the panel to form correctly. RPS cannot remove legs on site or in house.
  • Any caulking applied. If your panel system calls for sealant, it must be applied before curving.
  • Four extra panels supplied. We run test panels to dial in and verify the radius before curving your production panels. Plan for four additional panels in your material order.

Our prep on the day of curving is machine setup: adjusting for your panel width and seam height, and setting the radius. Our unit is compatible with standing seam panels at 12″, 16″, and 18″ widths [CONFIRM seam heights: 2″ only, or 1″, 1-1/2″, and 2″].

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of panels can RPS curve on site?

Standing seam metal roofing and siding panels compatible with 12″, 16″, and 18″ width profiles with 16″ coverage and a 2″ panel height. Prior to curving, the leg of the male flange must be removed and any caulking applied before curving.

Does RPS supply the panels, or just curve them?

We provide the curving service only. You or your roofing contractor/manufacturer supply the panels. Send us your profile before ordering if you’re unsure it’s compatible.

Do you curve panels at your facility or on site?

Both. Panels 20 feet and under can be curved at our Elgin, IL facility or on your job site. Panels over 20 feet are curved on site only. In-house curving is the right call when the site lacks staging room, electrical service, or crew to assist our operator, or when winter weather makes outdoor curving impractical.

What is the minimum radius you can curve?

As small as a 15-foot radius.
